1. Who We Are

StoryNest is a service for parents and guardians to create AI-illustrated personalized books for children. Our service is intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password (or, if you sign in via Google, your Google account email). We do not store your password in plain text.

Book Creation Information

To generate your personalised book, you may provide:

• Photos of your child, family members, or pets
• Your child's first name, age, and pronouns
• Story preferences (genre, theme, setting, tone)
• A custom story description (optional)

This information is used solely to generate your book. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it to third parties.

Payment Information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card number or full payment details. We receive a record of the transaction (amount, order type, and a Stripe customer reference) for order fulfilment and support.

Usage Data

We may collect basic usage information such as error logs (via Sentry) and page visits to help us maintain and improve the service. This data does not include photos or personally identifiable child information.

3. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

StoryNest is designed for use by parents and guardians, not by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information about children (such as their name, age, and photos) is provided by a parent or guardian for the sole purpose of creating a personalised book.

Photos and personal details about children are:

• Used only to generate illustrations and story text for your book
• Not used to train AI models
• Not shared with third parties except as required to deliver the service (e.g. sending your cover image to our illustration API)
• Retained only as long as your account is active or as needed to fulfil your order

If you believe a child under 13 has submitted personal information to us without parental consent, please contact us at privacy@storynestbook.com and we will promptly delete it.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To generate your personalised storybook
• To process and fulfil your order (digital download or print)
• To send order confirmation and status emails
• To provide customer support
• To maintain the security and reliability of our service

5. How We Share Your Information

We share your information only as necessary to provide the service:

• Google Gemini / AI illustration APIs — your photos and story details are sent to generate illustrations and story text. These providers are contractually bound to use the data only for processing your request.
• Stripe — payment processing
• Lulu — print fulfilment for physical book orders
• Resend — transactional email delivery
• Supabase — secure cloud database and file storage

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Retention

Your account data and generated books are retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing privacy@storynestbook.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and access controls on file storage. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Object to or restrict certain processing
